The workshop benefited a number of wastewater managers, algae producers, algae companies, researchers, investors, entrepreuneurs, phycologists, marine researchers, limnologists and algae equipment suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>The attendees learned of algae\u2019s tremendous potential as a cost-effective bioremediation tool for wastewater streams, effecting a more stable and healthy ecosystem. Two such algae bioremediation systems were well represented by Mark Zivojnovich\u2019s presentation on HydroMentia\u2019s Algal Turf Scrubber and Lucas McConnell of Renewergy unveiling his company\u2019s vertical algae system for nutrient recovery. Open pond scenarios for wastewater nutrient mining were described by Dr. Kimberly Jones of Alganomics and Dr. Aron Stubbins of Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding:10px;background-color:#2A4502;border-radius:10px;font-size:20px;font-family:Lucida Console; line-height:25px; text-align:center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/ref\/report\/wastewater_treatment\/wastewater_treatment.html\" style=\"color:#fff;\">Know All about Algae-based Waste Water Treatment from Oilgae Guide<\/a><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur goals for this workshop were to first raise awareness of the algae\/wastewater connection for a wide variety of valued end products and using algae for bioremediation. Next, we focused on the many sources of point and non-point sources of wastewater and discussed algal growth system applications.
