{"id":1271,"date":"2009-11-19T13:04:00","date_gmt":"2009-11-19T13:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilgae.com\/blog\/?p=1271"},"modified":"2009-11-19T13:04:00","modified_gmt":"2009-11-19T13:04:00","slug":"wastewater-grown-algae-to-bio-crude-oil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/wastewater-grown-algae-to-bio-crude-oil.html","title":{"rendered":"Wastewater Grown Algae to Bio-crude Oil Demonstration Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You are at: <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/\">Oilgae Blog<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Energy Hon Gerry Brownlee will open the largest wastewater algae to bio-crude oil demonstration project in the world this week.<\/p>\n<p>The project combines NIWA\u2019s scientific expertise on advanced wastewater treatment and algal production pond technology with Solray\u2019s bio-crude oil conversion technology and is hosted by Christchurch City Council at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the project is for NIWA to produce between 150 and 300 tonnes of algae per year from the 5 hectares of wastewater treatment High Rate Algal Ponds.
