Feasibility Study on Carbon Sequestration Using Algae
Researchers from Tamil Nadu performed an experiment to test the ability of Chlorella vulgaris to fix carbon. They performed the experiment by setting up a lab scale photo-bioreactor and artificial supply of CO2 was
given. Optimum environmental conditions like light intensity, pH, Temperature, nutrients, concentration were followed.
Results showed that maintaining a constant pH within the range of 8 to 9 is best suitable for the algal growth. As the CO2 flow rate is reduced the capture efficiency increased almost five times.
