Project Aims to use Probiotic Bacteria to Produce Algal Crops
Researchers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are working on a project to identify an
d employ probiotic bacteria to increase microalgal survival by two-fold when the mass algal cultures are affected by rotifers or chytrids.
The work will also analyze ways to overcome barriers that exist during shifting of lab-scale work to open pond process. The team has also received funding of $1million from Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for this project.
