Aquaflow Plans to Build Large Scale Biorefinery
Aquaflow Bionomic Corporation, with the goal of building a 1000 tonnes per day biorefinery, will seek millions of dollars of funding from global investors. Earlier the company had planned to build a 100 tonnes per day biofuel plant to test the economics of producing a “drop-in” fuel from algae that could be used in existing combustion engines at a price that was competitive with petrol. But according to Nick Gerritsen, Aquaflow’s co-founder and director, their plans have changed, and now the company is focusing on building a refinery with a capacity of 1000 tonnes per day either in the United States, Australia or New Zealand. The company had no plans for a public share offer and was looking to large investors for the capital to make its refinery a reality.
