Algae.Tec Signs Collaboration Contract with Manildra Group for Demonstration Plant
Australia-based Algae.Tec Ltd. has formed a collaboration contract with the Manildra Group to construct a demonstration-scale algae production facility at its 100 MMgy ethanol plant in Nowra, Australia.

Perth, Western Australia/Atlanta, Georgia – 29 June 2011 – Algae.Tec Limited (ASX: AEB, FWB: GZA:GR, ALGXY:US) an advanced renewable oil company with a high-yield enclosed algae growth and harvesting system (the McConchie-Stroud System) announced today a Collaboration Contract with the Manildra Group for the construction of the Algae.Tec demonstration facility, Shoalhaven One, at Nowra south of Sydney, Australia.
Algae.Tec Executive Chairman Roger Stroud said Algae.Tec senior executives from Australia and USA had visited the Manildra Group facility this month, Australia’s largest ethanol producer, to sign the deal and finalize logistics and permit submissions.
“The Algae.Tec algae photo-reactors will be sited next to main facility and take a carbon dioxide feed from the main ethanol fermenters,” said Stroud.
The Algae.Tec team also recently returned from customer and site meetings in Germany and China.
“Algae.Tec is one of only a few advanced biofuels companies globally with a technology designed to grow algae on an industrial scale and produce valuable biofuels that replace increasingly expensive fossil fuels,” said Stroud.
“The technology captures carbon pollution from power stations and manufacturing facilities which feeds into the algae growth system.”
The photo-reactors are currently being assembled at the company’s USA headquarters, the Algae Development & Manufacturing Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, an 18,200 square foot fabrication facility.
The Algae.Tec solution is less than one tenth the land footprint of pond growth options, while its enclosed module system is designed to produce algae biomass in virtually any environment on the planet.
The enclosed modular system is designed to deliver the highest yield of algae per hectare, and solves the problem of food-producing land being turned over for biofuel production.
