Mary Rosenthal Emphasises on Algae Fuel Parity
Leaders of the various sectors of biomass industry gathered to discuss the future of algae, biomass thermal, biomass power, biogas, biofuels and biochemicals industries at the International Biomass Conference & Expo. The bottomline of the whole discussion sessions was that federal support has to be pulled up to favor a positive growth of biomass industry on the whole. The near term and long term policy goals were disucssed at length.
Mary Rosenthal, executive director of the Algal Biomass Organization, initiated the discussion and emphasised that her organization would continue its good work to achieve parity for the algae fuel industry especially given the fact that algae fuels do not qualify for any forms of tax credits available to cellulosic ethanol. Mary Rosenthal promised that she would continue her works to educate members of congress about the benefits and advantages of algae biofuels. She would also continue to emphasise that the share of funding for algae fuels should be increased from DOE, USDA, NAABB etc
